Flow-induced rotations are state of the art problematics in computational fluid dynamics analysis such as wind turbines or Kaplan turbines. OpenFOAM® offers the possibility to use an existing library namely the Six Degree of Freedom (6DoF) library to model such a phenomenon. This training case will guide you through the necessary steps to simulate flow-induced rotations. The well known and structured Holzmann CFD's run script is generating the whole case automatically and therefore, you can understand and follow each step. Discount of 50% possible.

The generation of the Arbitrary Mesh Interface (AMI) in combination with the 6DOF library is a challenging task in OpenFOAM®. The training case will guide you through the usage of the library and the generation of the AMI boundary condition. Additionally, function objects are applied such as the generation of a passive scalar equation on the fly in combination with the fvOptions functionality (source term on the fly). The case is modeled in 2D. The mesh is generated by using the well-known meshing tool namely snappyHexMesh. Based on the fact that snappyHexMesh offers only 3D abilities, the mesh is further modified and manipulated for a 2D purpose. Many comments are given in the files, especially in the set-up for the 6DoF library, fvSolutions - numerics, PIMPLE algorithm, relaxation factors, residual controls and other such as the controlDict, that includes broad information of the functionObject usage and fvOptions.
