Using additional STL files for region refinement

SnappyHexMesh allows using different strategies to refine different surfaces and regions. However, discretizing thin gaps in the domain can result in a challenging topic. Especial critical are meshing procedures in which only triangulated surface are available. As already mentioned, OpenFOAM allows different techniques to refine thin gaps. One of them is described in this tutorial.

Different engineering designs contain small gaps which are sometimes critical for the meshing operation. SnappyHexMesh allows one to use different techniques to provide good discretization. One of these methods are described within this tutorial. For the refinement strategy, a separat triangulated surface files is used for »regionRefinement«. However, snappyHexMesh also allows the usage of a gap refinement keyword which is not presented here. After the meshing, a steady-state solution is calculated. A total running time of around 10 minutes is required for common computers.
